The Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association Dragon Boat Races is a signature Portland Rose Festival event. Portlands Inagural Dragon Boat races began in June of 1989 and was the first Taiwanese style dragon boat races to be conducted in the United States. Four of the original dragon boats were from the CCBA, and the CCBA Dragon Boat team is the only team to have been in every dragon boat race event since its inception in Portland.
